Perennial or annual

Question
Are Lavender and Sage annual or perennial plants and do they spread?

Answer
Ronald:
There are tender and hardy perennials of sage and lavender. The hardy edible sages are green garden and purple(red). They return each year and grow tall and wide when they are pruned at least every 3 weeks. Give diameter of 36" for each plant. The lavenders have many varieties and you must know their names to find their hardiness.
Get the catalog from (Well-Sweep Herb Farm; 205 Bethel Rd.; Port Murray, New Jersey  07865; 908-852-5390; www.wellsweep.com; cost $2.00 ) Their list of lavender and sages are listed with their hardiness. If you live in a fairly warm climate, some of the annuals and tender perennials will continue to grow.
