Stevia

Question
Hi Leroy,
I'm very new to Stevia.  It's harvest time in the garden, and I read a little bit on your site. What can you tell me about this plant?

Answer
Jan:
I have taken my website down this year, but will replace it later in 2012. I have the info of my experience with the plant in my book and can send you all that I have by mail. Send your address is you need more. Meanwhile, you can star harvesting now.Cut below the flowers. It gets bitter with the cold weather. Put leaves into a paper bag with holes it all around. Place in a dry, airy area. Shake bag contents weekly. When leaves become dry and ready to make powder, place in blender and grind to powder. Store jar in dark, dry area. Start using with 1 teasp. to cup of hot beverage. There is an after taste. If the plant is in a container, you may bring indoors for it to return next year. It normally will not grow indoors during, get moldy and attracts whiteflies. Plant in spring when night temps reach 70's. During growing season, prune from the top down 1/3 on each branch every 3 weeks. The plant will become bushy and more productive. It can give you energy. Make stevia ice cubes.  I start with 1 leaf per cup. Bring to boil, cool, test sweetness, pour into ice cube tray. Store in zip lock bags. Richters herb seeds have the stevia with very little after taste. Plants are 8.00%shipping,but order early to get them.
