Starting VFT seeds??

Question
I am getting some VFT seeds and want to know if I can start them in just pure Peat Moss?  I don't want to use perlite or sand and thought it should be fine.  What is your opinion?

Thank you,
Ricky

Answer
Hi Ricky,

Starting seeds on straight peat is fine.  Just be sure to barely cover the seeds with a little fine peat, and spray with a fungicide.  This gives them the best start and keeps the mold at bay.  Also, VFT's don't need stratification, so you can just sow them and wait.  Germination usually takes about 3 weeks.

Good Growing!
