Starting Jalapeno

Question
I have a Jalepeno but no seeds. Do I take the seeds out and dry them for a few days and then plant in a starter greenhouse or do I dry out the whole jalapeno first. How long does the seeds have to dry before I can plant them?

Answer
Kel, you need to remove the seeds, allow them to dry for a minimum of 5 days, and then refrigerate them in a sealable plastic bag for 2 weeks.  The cooling period simulates the cooling period needed for dormancy.  You can then plant them either indoors in a mini-greenhouse tray, or if you live south of zone 7, you can plant them directly outdoors.

Note: If you're not sure of which zone you live in, use the website attached below.

Have a good weekend.
