tipped the pitchers

Question
I have a highland nepenthes plant that I recently moved into a new pot with
new soil. The problem was that in doing so I accidentally spilled the liquids
out of all of the pitchers. I was wondering if I should leave them empty or if I
could add some water. I live in Portland OR. I use sunlight, tap water, and a
moss mixture soil that I got from a guy who sells nepenthes.

Answer
Hi Mitch,

Liquid spilling out of the pitchers is very common when transplanting.  Go ahead and put a little water in the pitchers to replace what was lost.  Even the stuff the plant secretes itself is mostly water until bugs begin to fall in and enzymes are produced.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure the guy who sold you that Nepenthes soil is me, especially if you purchased it at the Portland Saturday Market. :)

Good Growing!
