QUESTION: My nepenthes isn't growing pitchers it is kept under a dark tree and gets very little if any direct sunlight, I used to have it so that got a lot of light but then the leaves got all burned. I was told that if I watered the plant as much as possible (4 times a day) that would help the pitchers grow, but it doesn't seem to help. All of the leaves have the beginnings of pitchers  but they never get any larger than nubs and I've tried every which way to get them larger, I've had this plant for more than 1/2 a year so I'm not being impatient! I've even been keeping it outside and spraying it with a mister to increase its relative humidity. I know there's a problem and I have been trying to figure it out. How long is it supposed to take for the pitchers to grow? i'm getting desperate!

ANSWER: Hello Brandon

Many factors can bring a nep to be laze on the pitchers making.
Your seems to have the right amount of light, and ventilation is ok.
What kind of water do you use ?
And you need to determine what relative humidity(RH%) you have near to your nepenthes.

For me, im 80% pretty sure that your nep do not produce pitchers because the air is too dry. All my nepenthes grow in 70%+ RH.

QUESTION: The humidity around my nepenthes is the average humidity of the outdoors. I brought it outside because the outdoors usually has a lot of humidity, then I started misting, now I think that I might try and cover to create some real humidity, by now i'll try almost anything!!!!!!!!

I can understand you, a couples years ago, i tryed to provide a big temperature drop at night to my heliamphora hispida, and i goes almost crazy about that lol.

For your case, i have to ask you what knid of nepenthes is it, i mean i have to know if you grow a lowland or a highland nep.

Maybe you can consider growing your nep inside inside a terrarium next to a south faced window ?

And maybe the temperature range (day/night) is not the right one for your nepenthes.

QUESTION: My nepenthes is a miranda velvet pitcher plant, it is a hybrid so you would know over me if it is a highland or lowland species/hybrid, which is it?

Answer
The miranda is a lowland hybrid.

So, according that all the other requirements are met, i suggest you growing your nep in a humid terrarium. Or, try misting your nep 3-4 times a day, in a shaded place, but if the outside rh% is low in your area, its gonna be hard. Your plant will survive, but will not thrive ie: no pitcher.
