planting different species of VFT togeather

Question
Good day Jeff & Jacob.

I have recently purchased several different species of VFT from Sarracenia Northwest plus a few rescues from Wal Mart. I Intend to plant all of them in a 18"X6" bowl type container. Will this have any adverse affects other than eventually cross pollinating and possibly producing hi-bred VFT's?

Answer
Hi Dan,

Venus flytrap is a monotypic species, which means there is only one species of flytrap.  Cultivated varieties of the plant exist, such as Red Dragon (noted for its red leaves) and Dente (noted for its short triangular teeth).  But the species is the same for all cultivated varieties.

Regardless of the variety, they all have the same growing requirements, so there isn't any issue about them growing together in the same pot.  In our DVD, Grow Carnivorous Plants Volume 1, we show how may different varieties of flytraps can grow together in a single pot.

Good growing!
