Cape Sundew not re-opening

Question
Hello, I have a couple Cape Sundews one is the red version and also the thin leaf.  They are in a terraium and the temps are in the low 80's in the day and drop to low 70's high 60's at night with humidity around 50 during day and 70 at night.  I have 4 26 watt exo-terra grow lights about 10 inches above them.  They have allot of dew on them.  My wonderment is that after I put a small bug on them they will curl around it but sometimes the leaf won't un-curl.  What does that mean??

Thanks
Jason

Answer
Hi Jason,

That's very common on Cape sundews.  Newer leaves that capture insects will often unfurl after digesting a bug, but older leaves often don't.  If they catch a large insect they often don't unfurl either.

Good Growing!
