cobra plants

Question
I have ordered a couple of times from you in the past and will be getting some cobra plants and butterworts in the spring when you have them available. I am thinking about buying some cobra  seeds and  want to know if they need to be refrigerated for a while before planting. Thanks

Answer
Hi Michael,

Darlingtonia seeds behave very similar to Sarracenia seeds, so they do need to be stored under refrigeration.  They also need stratification, but germinate very readily.  Depending on where you live you can just sow them in peat and leave the seeds out for the winter.  To be successful, seeds need to stratify with cold and dampness.  You can visit this link for information on growing Darlingtonia from seed:  http://cobraplant.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=24&chapter=1

Good Growing!
