Peat Moss?   QUESTION: OK, I found some moss that came with an orchid that we recently got and I was wondering if it was peat moss. To me it looks just like peat moss, but I have made a mistake before and I don't want to mess this up again.

ANSWER: Hi Kevin,

This isn't peat moss, it's long-fiber sphagnum moss.  Sphagnum is where peat moss comes from, however.  Peat is formed from the partial decomposition of sphagnum in bogs.

Hi Kevin,
