Nep mira x rajah
Allexperts,

I got this plant from you guys a about a year ago.  I was wondering if the leaves that turning strange colors is that normal?  I saw in the nepenthes section of the DVD that it is very common for the plants to show this type of coloration.  Would what would you suggested?  I did move the plant in September of 2015 to its current growing spot.  It used to be on a window.

Grow facts:

LIghts -60CFL
Hours-14hours
temps- 72-74 degrees about 69 at night I think that correct.

soil old recipe for nepenthes with bark, Spaigum Moss.
Water- distilled.

Thank you,

Weylin

Answer
Hi Weylin,

This hybrid has been a bit problematic for us with this also.  Both the parent species are ultra-highland plants, so it most likely wants cooler, consistent temperatures with higher humidity.  Also, try a light fertilizing, if you haven't been doing that already, with Maxsea, Seagrow, or similar fertilizer with seaweed powder.  Your plant may be lacking some trace nutrients, and that could help.

Since you're using a CFL for this plant, this could be a situation where an LED light might be better.  You would get cool, bright conditions which is exactly like the mountain habitats these plants come from.

Let us know how it goes.

Good Growing!
