Lavendar Plants

Question
I have just purchased a beautiful 1 gallon lavendar plant. I have it sitting on my front porch in Redding, CA and within 1 day the plant looks absolutely terrible. It is full of blooms but all the greenery is turning an ashen gray green color and the blooms are turning dry. The temperature here is in the mid 90's but the plant is not directly in the sun, except for the early morning hours. What can I do to save this plant? I have watered it once since bringing it home. Should it be dry to the touch or?
Thanks for reading!

Answer
Hi Debbie,
Thanx for your question.  For potted plants outside, you must water them every day in order to keep them properly hydrated.  Although lavendar tolerate drought well when planted in the garden, all potted plants require a daily (sometimes twice daily) watering especially when temperatures are above 85 degrees.  Give it a thorough soaking until water comes out of the drainage hole each time.  Your plant should recover quickly.  I hope this helps.
Tom
