succulent propogation

Question
Hi Jeff, I have a young succulent that looks like a jade plant  but it's light green and the "leaves" are more chunky.  It has grown about 6" tall and has baby plants growing out of the bottom part. It also has a few long reddish things growing out of where a "leaf" has come off,, my question is -are these roots and can I just cut below them and plant the top?

Thank you for your time,, sorry I haven't been able to find the name of the species

Answer
Dear Heather,

Would it be possible for you to post a pic to me? Those sound like aerial roots (many of the Crassulaceae, including Crassulas, Kalanchoes, Aeoniums and Graptopetalums put out aerial roots), and yes, you can do just as you suggested and propagate as you described.

Kind regards,

Jeff
