Yucca Branches Constantly Falling Off

Question
My family has a large yucca plant growing in the backyard of our house. I think that I have correctly identified it as a yucca decipiens; it is about 15-20 feet high with several branching main stalks. The problem is that the stalks seem to get too heavy after a while, and they bend down towards the ground, eventually breaking off. They sometimes also bring other stalks down at the same time. My question is is this normal, and is there any kind of pruning or maintenance that we can do to prevent this?

Answer
Dear Jonathan,

You can prop up the branches that are falling (not too appealing), but chances are your Yucca has tapped into some souce of water (or septic tank, etc). You can strategically prune it when the branches are small to keep a more tree like appearance. Other than that, there isn't much you can do to slow its growth, especially if it has tapped into a septic tank.

Sincerely,

Greg
