leaves falling of my pencil holly

Question
QUESTION: THe leaves are falling off my pencil tree holly. I've had it in a pot at my front door for 3 years and now it seems that the leaves are falling off and I'm wondering if it's dyeing. Put it has new leaves at the top. The leaves are falling off from the middle and working its way to the top. It there a bug maybe eating on it.

ANSWER: Hi Travis, it could be a bug or maybe it is not getting enough water and needs to be moved into a bigger pot.  No serious insect or disease problems. Spider mites can be troublesome. Nematodes are a problem in the South. You also did not mention where you live, could have been hurt by the cold.  kathy

QUESTION: Thanks, Kathy, I live in Alabama, so, it might be the insect problem.  I actually have 2 ,one on each side of my front door. The other one is fine. So, It might be the Nematodes..What can I do?

Answer
Hi Travis,  If in fact it is a nematode problem or a bug problem, you could use Atomic Grow which is organic to bring your plant back to health. The company feels it will repel the nematodes as the plant bricks will be raised, which in turn makes the plant healthy.   The leaves will come back better than ever and will be shiny and beautiful from the product cleaning off all the grit on the leaves.  When your plant is healthy, bugs go elsewhere.  kathy
