Stetsonii

Question
My stetsonii frozen this season and though it had survived freezes before, now it has turned spongy and mold seem to be overtaking it now from the top (about 10 inches).  Is there a way that I can save it?

Answer
Dear Jet,

If the entire plant is spongy you probably can't. If it is spongy only around the moldy area you may be able to cut below that damage and save it.  I don't know how many branches you have and are affected.  it really depends on how far down the mold/rot has gone because you need to get rid of that entirely. If you can get tot heathy tissue, brush it with fungicide and let the wound/s callous.   Keep them dry and protected.  The plant will develop new growth.

So the key is how far down your sponginess goes.
