bush problem

Question
we are in middle Georgia, inherited a large hedge around house.
Not sure what it is but probably box but with larger leaves than the
english variety I know. It hasn't flowered yet so can't identify that
way. Dry summer last year, now growing new shoots all pale and
dry to touch. Covered all over with very small hard to see brown
spots, when you rub them the brown comes off on your fingers. the
hedge looks like it will die unless we do something. Can you
identify problem and what should we do to rescue it.

Answer
Without knowing the kind of "bush" you have it is hard to make a recommendation. I would sugest you contact the Georgia Forestry Commission or the County Extension office near you and ask one of their Foresters or Horticulturist to come out and ID the bush and the problem. Their phone number should be in your local phone book. This is a free service.
