Question
I noticed white sticky blob like growths scattered on the branches of my Holly bushes. They are about the size of a pencil eraser. I've scraped most of them off. They are soft and when removed smear easily with a reddish center.

Hi how r u? it sounds like u have scale bug which has a soft cotton like look!go to the garden center and pick up a hort oil and or sevin insecticide read label and treat and u will be fine! u may want to treat with a fertilizer if there is damage from scale.get a fertilizer for evergreens and the holly will come back nice in 6 to 8 weeks
