Question
Our town (western New York)which is known for its Maple trees is celebrating its 200th anniversary by planting trees. Many of the suggested and donated trees are Maples. Given the number of diseases listed for Maples is this wise? Are the diseases more prevalent now and are insects more of a problem now than previous years?   Thank you.

Many diseases plague many plants.  I wouldnt let that keep me from planting the trees.  Although planting them close together could potentially produce a problem if a disease does move in.  You will have to be vigilant and keep an eye on them.  Good Luck.
