My shrub is 4 feet tall out front and last yer it started turning brown in one spot now it is spreading....There is a white looking substance on the limbs ..Some one mentioned Adelgid.....Please Help.......Thanks......Rodney

Whatever the insect is, it needs to be controlled or it could kill the plant.  Purchase Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insecticide from Home Depot.  Mix according to label instructions.  The product is poured on the soil around the base of the plant and is taken up systemically and will kill the bugs within a week or so.  It also provides up to 8 months of protection from reinfestation.  Good Luck.
