Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta

Question
We bought 2 Sago Palms from a large retailer a while back.  We then planted them in the ground (sandy soil), however, we did put plenty of mulch and potting soil.  We're in Yuma, so the temps are climbing.  We water once a week right now.  The frond centers have turned yellow, and we have new growth on one that are kind of fuzzy.  Hope you can help.  They are beautiful plants and would hate to lose them due to our lack of knowledge.  Thank you

Answer
Sago palms are not hard to grow in the right environment.  The yellow fronds will probably go completely yellow and if they do, you can cut them off.  If the new growth expands normally and grows into a nice frond, then I would say you are on your way to having a nice plant.  Occasionally, fronds will die on the bottom and this is normal.  If the fronds in the middle start to die then there is a problem.  Let me know what happens.  Thanks.
