dead wood on crotons

Question
QUESTION: HI THERE, ANY IDEAS ON WHAT WOULD CAUSE BRANCHES ON CROTONS TO DIE? ALMOST LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING  HAS SUCKED THE JUICE OUT OF BRANCHES AND STEMS. WE LIVE IN KEY WEST, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY IDEAS,

ANSWER: Hi Roseanne..  You only speak of the branches and not the leaves in anyway.  Given that information I would have to think that it is fertilizer burn or too much water.

QUESTION: THANKS FOR YOUR ANSWER, THERE ARE NO LEAVES ON THE BRANCHES, WE CANNOT OVER WATER AS WE ARE ON RESTICTIONS FOR WATERING, AND NO FERTILIZER HAVE BEEN USED, OTHER WOOD ON BUSH IS FINE AND THE DEAD WOOD LOOKS LIKE BARK WAS STRIPPED OFF, ANY MORE IDEAS PLEASE?

Answer
Hi again...is there totally no leaves?  then you are not giving it enough water.  If there are leaves and no leaves on the dead branches then you should apply a product such as Neem Oil Pure which will cover insects, fungus, whatever and help your plant survive.
