QuestionI've recently obtained a sage cutting that was a bit wilty when I got it, but I attributed to stress because I accidentally repotted it sooner than I should have. I was told to water it only when the soil was dry a half inch below the surface and to mist it several times a day, which is what I have done. However, places along the leaf margins have browned, and randomly scattered spots began to develop on both the leaves and the stem. The plant doesn't appear to be dying, but its difficult to tell because it was already wilty when I first got it and while it appears to be standing up a bit straighter than it was, it's still not healthy-looking. I've searched the internet for a possible cause for this, but I've seen so many different suggestions from stem rot to stress that I don't know what to do about it anymore. Do you know what it might be and if I should worry?
AnswerKasey:
The browning and wilt can be due indeed to a root related stress. Just give it some TLC and wait a bit. If the rooting is unsuccessful- u will know it by a permanent leaf drop/wilt (a.k.a.plant toast!!). In the next two weeks look for new leaves if it is successful..
Thanks for your question!!
