Forsythia disease

Question
We have two forsythia bushes in our landscaping, both of which have curly new growth that doesn't resemble the typical healthy new growth.  Can you tell me if this is damage caused by an insect or if its a disease?  Also any treatment recommendations you can make would be helpful.  Thanks!

Answer
Ashley:
From your description, I do not think that this strange growth is caused by an insect or disease. Check into the use of any weed killers or herbicides in the vicinity of these plants- especially if they looked normal last year.  Some types of weed killers may cause this "funny" twisted growth.  You can send me a photo of this growth if you wish. Be sure to review it on your computer first- to be sure it is in focus before hitting the send button.

Regards

Steve
