Question
I began growing an avocado pit in a jar of water two months ago on my living room counter and it has grown nearly two feet high.  I now notice little things swimming around in the water.  What is this and what should I do?

I suspect that these "swimmers" are various microorganisms like nematodes or protozoans. Just a simple water exchange should suffice to reduce their levels.  If your plant is doing well, I suspect these organisms not to have an impact on the overall health of the plant.
