Dear Expert,

I am in northern California. I am planning to buy a Ylang-Ylang tree. None of the local nurseries carry this tree, I was told that because the local climate is not suitable for growing it.

Do you think if there is any possibility to grow Ylang-Ylang in my area (zone 8), even with some extra effort? Do you know where I can find this tree?

Hi Mary if you zone 8 is like our zone 8 on the other side of the US forget it.  I am in 9B and every winter it freezes and I have never seen it bloom.  Check out the dwarf Ylang Ylang then you can keep it in a pot and bring it in in the winter.  I keep mine in a greenhouse and it blooms most of the year except now when it is the coldest.  kathy  ps the regular Ylang Ylang would be too big to keep carting in and out.
