Sick Apple Tree

Question
Good Evening,
I have a sick apple tree that is grown in the ground in Texas. The tree is 5 years old.it looks like every where on the tree where there should be a flower to produce apples is clusters of dead leaves, pieces of dead stem & found 3 small starts of apples. My son gave me this tree for Mothers Day so i am kinda fond of it.Any idea what could be causing this death to the fruit of my tree?

Answer
Hi Decinda,  The first important thing to to make sure your tree is not getting too much water.  Make sure the ground is level around your tree so it is not holding water around it, that could drown it.  The tree should be getting about 4 inches of water a week.  Make sure you did not plant it too deep in the ground, you should still see the original soil.  Many times with a new planting you may loose the fruit due to the stress of giving it a new home.  Normally yellow leaves not enough water and black tips too much water.  kathy
