spiders

Question
umm I have a second question, this about spiders.

along with carpenter ants that have been appearing the past few weeks, so have tiny spiders.

well, they're probably a CM long.

to me, it looks like all their 8 legs are on the first segment of their bodies, and then they have a long abdomen.
we've seen them crawling in the corners of the ceiling and around the door, but just now one scared the crap out of me by coming from the ceiling with a string of thread and then floating next to me while I sat on the computer.

Are these dangerous? will they bite and kill me?
should I leave them be?

bugs and things don't bother me until they start crawling on me, cause I'm scared of getting bitten and having my body parts rot off.

Answer
Desirai,

It is almost impossible to identify spiders based on descriptions or even photos. It generally takes a trained eye and examination under a microscope. The vast majority of spiders and not venomous but if you are concerned your best bet may be to capture one and have it identified at a local university. For spiders that occur indoors the best control strategy is to use sticky traps, they are more effective and less hazardous than insecticides. See http://www.livingwithbugs.com/spider_tp.html for instructions for a homemade trap as well as links to commercial traps). Sorry I can't be more specific.
