asparagus and its care


Question
how can i separate and re-plant an old growth.  it has been in same place 5-8 yrs.  it seems to need revitalizing.  could you share some simple tips on care and saving or replacing.  how can i share it with others?

Dear Kelly:

Asparagus usually has a life of approximately 15 years.  Thinning asparagus in the first or second year after planting is appropriate.  However, thinning at mid-life stage is not advised.  Transplanting the existing plants should be done in late summer or early fall.  Listed below are  websites that should provide you with useful reference information about this delightful delicacy:
