Ponytail palm and its care

Question
I inherited this plant and thnk it might be tropical type but know nothing about how to care for it. It is in AZ on patio. Should I move it inside. Will send photo to your email. THANK YOU

Answer
Hi Sue,

Thanks for the photo.

Your plant is a Ponytail Palm. It is a tropical plant and will not survive freezing temperatures.

If you know what light exposure it had before you inherited  it, then it would be best to try to duplicate that light, as that is what it is adapted to. Otherwise, I suggest keeping outside in a shaded area or inside in a very sunny window.

Do NOT repot it and be sure to let the soil get quite dry in between waterings. This is a plant that can withstand drought.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
