Green Been Problem

Question
What could be affecting my green beans?  The plants grow until they have about two to three leaves and then something appears to be eating the leaves off right up to the stem and then the stem curls up and it dies.  It is not affecting all the plants but enough to have to replant in some areas.  I have checked for insects but am not able to see any.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark.

Answer
I think you have a beetle that is eating your beans at night.  Rotonone is an organic insecticide (but it is toxic to bees and other beneficial insects) so you need to put it on the plants and ground at night, and then wash it off in the early morning. It will also kill flea beetles, they make little holes in leaves, and are black tiny insects. Let me know if this helps...
