how to get rid of

Question
my garden has wild fern  sprouting up everywhere
its from the field next to me
what spray can i get that will kill em to the root
    cheers jak

Answer
Hi Jak,

One of the ROUND-UP broad-spectrum herbicides sold at any lawn and garden center should do the job.  There are several versions Monsanto corporation has now and there is one billed to work through both the foliage and the roots.   You should try this since most plants called 'ferns' tend to have an extensive under-ground tuber-rhizome system that can survive most top-side herbicide attacks.

The main ingredient in these herbicides is a chemical GLYPHOSATE.

You must be very careful with this chemical because it will kill virtually any green herbaceous non-woody plant that gets a dose.  In using it in the gardens, you may want to use an artist's paint-brush to apply it carefully to the weeds so that none of your valuable garden plants are affected.   However you choose to apply this chemical work to NOT harm your valuable garden plants since even a small dose may kill them as well as the weeds.

It is sold in ready to sray forms and in concentrate form you can dilute and use a home-sprayer to apply.
Do not spray this chemical on a windy day.
