Dollar Weed & Sugar

Question
Hi Charlotte,

Forgot to mention that the dollar weed (round circular dollar size weed) in our front yard which is bermuda has not died out yet either.  We also applied a good amount of the sugar several weeks ago now as well.  We have not used any chemical fertilizer.  Should we apply another application of the sugar?

Thanks again, Ruth

Answer
Check with your nurseries around there to see if any of them carry organics. Try to get some corn gluten.
Howard Garrett says that is a great weed and feed. I have never used it, just read about it a couple of weeks ago.
If you can find some of that, apply it, and water it in.
Did you check to see if your soil is loose enough?
DANG!!! I have gotten so many letters that they tried the sugar and in a few weeks their lawn looked great, and the weeds were gone.
Don't you live in Texas?
Wherebouts do you live?
Did I give you the address for Howard Garrett's website?
I am really learning a lot more from that site, reading the questions and answere in the forums, and watching the videos.
It is well worth the 25 dollars it cost for a year's membership.
He really touts dry molasses, but you have to use 10 pounds per 1000 sq.ft, that is twice as much sugar as I use, and it costs about the same here, per pound as sugar does. I tried the dry molasses one year, and I frankly like the results I get with sugar.
The only thing I can think of is if the soil has so much clay, the water ( and sugar) is soaking down only a couple inches, then running off over that layer of clay.
It would go down to where it could not penetrate further, and then run off sideways until it gets to an area where it can soak in.
Your yard really has me stumped. I wish I could see it. I might be able to tell what is wrong.
