black ants in kitchen

Question
I have been in my new home for about 2 to 3 years now and seem to have a problem with little black ants in my kitchen and don't know where they are coming in at. What can I do to get rid of these ants? I can't put anything on that counter for the ants. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Answer
Hi Linda;
I have never had a problem with ants, so I have to just tell you what I have read and been told that works.
a trail of lemon juice where they are coming in is suipposed to stop them.
I read they will not cross lemon juice.
Also some herbs, sweet, basil for one, and rosemary have insect repelling properties.
I have read ants on that list.
So you could get some fresh rosemary and fresh sweet basil, chop them up five and scatter them on the counter and see if that works, or wash the counter down with a cloth wet with lemon juice.
Those things are safe for any area, and they even make th kitchen smell nice.
If those don't work, write me back.
I will do some more searching in the meantine for something else.
