Oregon Lawn care

Question
I live in in the Willamette Valley, famous now for our Pinot Noir, rain, and clay
soil.  I bought a 3 acre property that has ALOT of lawn last December.  I'm
sure they used chemicals.  I've used none.  I mulch when I mow.  I've added
lime.  I water probably too often and too lightly (based on reading some of
your previous answers).  I've got alot of fairly harmless weeds and brown
spots due to sod webworms.  It's hot now, but the rains will come soon.  I'm
thinking of laying down compost this fall, and overseeding at the same time.
Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Answer
That all sounds fine.  I would just rent a core aerator and punch holes everywhere before laying down the compost.  That way it'll get down into the soil better, and it'll help improve the structure of the clay.

Other than that, I think you've got the right idea!
