Lawn - Newer Sod

Question
I installed Kentucky Blue grass (SOD) in July (08) and now my lawn is turning brown. I live in Eastern PA. The lawn was watered and was looking great until Oct/Nov but now it is looking light green and brown in sections. Is my lawn dying or does Kentucky Blue grass turn lighter green in the winter? What can I do at this point?

Answer
Kentucky Blue definitely gets browner in the Winter, so this is completely natural. It will also take a bit longer than other grasses to green up in the Spring, so be prepared for that. There's nothing you can do to change that or prevent it.

You've got no reason to be concerned. KB is great stuff, but nothing is perfect and this is one of its rather minor drawbacks.

Thanks for writing!
