pre-emergence

Question
QUESTION: Will Halts, or dimension hurt established trees and shrubs if applied around them?

ANSWER: As long as you are applying at the correct rates, it should be fine. I've seen it done numerous times before, and I've never seen negative results.

*Also, keep in mind that crabgrass doesn't grow in the shade. If the trees or shrubs are dense enough, you may not need to apply so close to them.

Too much of anything could cause problems though, so make sure to be careful with the application.

QUESTION: Is there a better pre-emergent out there? I would really perfer liquid. What types are out there and also what would be the best liquid post emergent.
Thanks so much!

Answer
I'm a personal fan of Dimension, which you could buy in liquid form if you look around. Just remember though, either liquid or granular needs to be watered in afterward, otherwise it will not work. It has to get down into the soil.

Granular is much easier to deal with unless you really know what you are doing with the liquid. That said, if you feel you know what you are doing, then go for it.

Good luck!
