corn gluten for crabgrass

Question
I'm looking for a non-toxic way to stop the crabgrass that is taking over my lawn and I'd like to try corn gluten meal.  However,  because the crabgrass has been so invasive, I have very little "good" grass growing in my lawn and I also need to overseed the whole lawn.  Can I sow new grass seed after applying corn gluten meal or will it kill the grass seed along with the crabgrass?  Thanks!

Answer
The best opinions suggest that corn gluten meal has pre-emergent activity only. Therefore it will not control emerged and rooted plants. I know that crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis) is very difficult to control in St. Augustine lawns. The most effective chemical against this troublesome weed in St. Augustine grass is severely restricted.
