Treating for Weeds

Question
Sod was installed in the middle of June. We live in western New York. It is growing very well with much watering. We had top soil brought in and found it to be very weedy. We spent hours on the flower beds to remove them. It looks like crab grass, creeping Charlie and a fern looking weed. What I need to know is how to treat the lawn for these weeds as they are beginning to appear in the lawn. The sod was beautiful and I'm hoping to keep it that way. Thanks for your help. Wendy

Answer
You have named a true grass, a broadleaf vine and a fern as the weeds, and you have not said what grass has been put down. Your best resources are the sod company, the Extension Services or garden center. Take along samples or good photographs of the weeds.
