FIRE DAMAGED LAWN

Question
THERE WAS A CAR FIRE OUTSIDE MY HOUSE THAT MADE IT UP AND TOTALY BURNED MY GRASS AND DESTROYED MY LAWN.IT SUMMER TIME NOW IN NY.WHAT IF ANYTHING CAN I DO TO REPAIR OR DO I HAVE TO START ALL OVER WITH NEW SOD.WHEN AND WHAT DO I DO NEXT.

Answer
Burning of the grass was an old practice to rejuvenate pastures. There was no external fuel; only such flammable material in the field fueled the flames. It worked well but there are disadvantages. I imagine that if the vehicle was parked on the lawn, the heat would be too intense for any regrowth to take place. Additionally, the products of such a combustion (fabrics, plastics and other synthetic materials) might prevent regrowth over a wider area. You might even have to replace some soil and then resod.
However, if the fire took off and spread (because of the dry material) on other areas of the lawn, I expect that regrowth will take place and you can treat that part as you normally would.
