Damaged Lawn By Round-Up

Question

Front yard
Hello,

I recently bought a house in Atlanta, GA in Feb 09 during that time i could see lots of weed growing in front, side and back of my yard, so i thought to use Round Up( Really Stupid Mistake), it did not say that what ever it comes in contact it kills it, so it killed my lawn and i can see so many brown spots on my lawn, where i applied it those spots are already dead it seems like, i am not expert in lawns and i have a management background then science, i want to get my lawn green again and its fairly new till yet. how can i solve this problem.

i might go for re seeding it with an expert, but i would like to try atleast bringing it back to life if i can. summers are pretty hot here, i trid fertiziling it and recently a sales man from scotts as well drop by to discuss the problem. so it seems like they help ruining the lawn and then they try to sell their chemical fertilizers. i want to get a organic fertilizar, or something which i can make by myself and apply on those dead spots.

Please Help!

Answer
I am not sure that I have got the picture right, if you may pardon the pun. Either you did not spray the whole yard or you applied the product inconsistently. If I am wrong and you sprayed the weeds only, then there must have been at least 40% weeds and a rehab job was in your future anyway. I know of no method to reverse the action of glyphosate which is the active ingredient in "Roundup". My best advice is to decide what quality of lawn you desire; find out the best combination of grass species and care program to achieve your objective; then reseed or resod and stick to your program. You can get very good advice for free at the County Extension Office in your area.
