struggling grass

Question
Hi, I just put down St Augustine sod in my front yard. However I didn't realize that I needed to water it so much. It still has some green to it so I've started to water it more in the hope that it will come back. I live in Houston so the weather is still pretty warm (in the 60-50 during the day). Is there anything else I should know or be doing to revive it?
Thanks!

Answer
I take it that the leaves rolled up and turned brown from the edges towards the center of the sod pieces. Those symptoms would indicate drying out.
When the sod dries out to the extent that you indicate ("It still has some green to it" ) there is a strong possibility that the sod pieces will start lifting from the soil. This separation starts at the edges. If you see this, rolling the sod will help to re-establish contact between sod and soil. If this is not possible, then fill in the gaps with sand.
