Tall Grass

Question
Ronald,
Last Year I pulled some shrubs and filled the holes and planted grass seed. Now I have all these patches of this very thick grass that grows like crazy. Right now my regular grass is about 3 inches and this stuff is a foot tall. How would I go about fixing this problem? Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.

Answer
The options are:
 1. After you mow, you can treat the seeded area with a plant growth regulator which will suppress regrowth. These products require precision; because "the danger is in the dose". A plant growth regulator at a higher dose can easily become a plant killer.

2.Treat the seeded grass areas with Roundup and re-sod.

3.If the desired grass grows by runners, scalp that specific area (where the undesired grass is growing), repeatedly; so that the undesired grass will struggle for survival and the runners of the desired grass will smother the other.
