privacy fence help

Question
I am looking for an evergreen brush or hedge that i can plant in abbeville la. I would like it to get around 10'-15' tall and around 3' to 4' wide. What options do i have? i want to completely enclose my property.

Answer
Japanese Ligustrum (ligustrum japonicum) shrubs would be best for what you are looking for. They are cheap, fast and happy at the size you mentioned.
see this link:http://www.floridata.com/ref/L/ligu_jap.cfm

You should be able to buy them in 3 gallon containers about 30"-36" high for $12.00 each.  Or look for larger pots say 10 gallon for roughly $20-30 each. Plant them five feet apart for a good solid hedge in about a year or two. For more immediate results plant them 42" on center. If you plant them right now they should nearly double in size this summer.

Have fun!
Best of Luck
