landscaping career

Question
hi, I'm a seventh grader and I love to be around all kinds of flowers, trees, and nature. So technically I love landscapes, and I'd love to be a landscaper when I grow up. How do u become one? My parents say I'd have to be very creative (and I'm proud to say I love art and being creative!), but is there more to it? I'm really glad an actual landscaper can answer my question.

Answer
Hi Tammy and sorry for not getting back earlier.

Ok, anyone can become a landscaper and all that is really necessary is passion and that I think you have, in adundance.

You can attend a a small college course on horticulture and that will open many many doors for you. Slowly slowly you can get maybe a staurday job in a small garden centre and then start working for a small landscape firm, you'll love it!

Later you can start up your own business either as a landscaper or as a designer, which is less labour intensive. Start small and work up, the main thing with becoming a landscaper is experience so get a small college course, a small job and go from there slowly slowly. That is exactly how I did it.
