Is it ok to have dirt next to the house vinyl siding or should a piece of tin be placed between the dirt and siding?

Hello,
It is never desirable to have soil placed against siding. You should have a minimum of 1 foot clearance between your first floor and the ground. The siding should not extend below the finished grade outside.
