Drip system causes pump to turn on and off

Question
I am using a Toro blue stripe drip system for my vegatable garden. It is connected to a separate zone on my lawn sprinkler system. While running the drip zone the well pump is constantly turning on and off, which I am guessing is due to the pump trying to maitain a certain pressure. I am afraid this will damage the pump.  The zones for the lawn work fine. Any ideas what I could do.  Thanks

Answer
Anthony,

You've got a problem there, Bubba. teh drip is a low flow system. It uses very little water when it runs. So the well pump is kicking on and repressurizing very quickly and then repeating itself over and over again. At least that is my guess. You could try to increase the flow of the drip system.  I don't know if the well pump is for the sprinklers only or if it for the house and the sprinklers. If it is for the sprinklers only then I need to know what kind of controller you have and there may be a pump delay or no option on it. If the well is for both the house and the sprinklers, then you could hook the drip up so that it runs with a lawn zone or figure out a way to increase the flow on the drip system. Let me know.

                      Thanks, Jim
