sprinkler system.

Question
I have an outdoor sprinkler system, obviously on a timer as well, winter is coming, i want to shut it down and drain the lines...I have no idea where to start or end, i have no manual or any idea where the timer would be or anything else..
do you antifreeze the lines as well, or just drian them?

Answer
You need to locate the timer and turn it off.  Then you have to find the shut-off valve that will turn off the water to the irrigation system, and turn it off.  Then you should locate the control valves that turn the sprinklers on and off (these have wires attached to them) and open the manual bleed for the valves.  This will let a lot of the water drain out of the system through the sprinkler heads.  If you have a drain at the end of the system, open it.    I would not put antifreeze in the lines.
