Water Proof

Question
QUESTION: I bought a brand new unit thinking the unit was the problem but I am still having the problem. When I first installed the new unit it started up and worked just fine. the next morning i went to start it up again and bam back to square 1. the problem is the back sprinklers work but the front don't. well they work but there is very little coming out just a drizzle. no matter how i wire it or what i do the fron yard sprinklers just seem to have no pressure in them. once in a blue moon they will come on and work fine but for the most part it's no go. please advise me someone. i'm losing my mind and i don't want ot have to pay some egg head to come out here and press a button for 500 dollars.

ANSWER: Make sure that all the wiring connections are good and waterproof both at the controller terminals, and in the valve boxes.  Also try adjusting the flow on your valves by opening them all the way, then close them all the way counting the turns, then open them back halfway.

QUESTION: How do I know if my wires are waterproof? I'm not very savvy with things like this so could you tell me exactly how I can tell if my wires are waterproof? Also a guy at Lowes said it sounds like a leak in the tubing somewhere. Is there any way to test for a leak without having to run the water all day. This guy said to let the system run until I find a significant water spot and that would most likely be where your leak is. Is this old cat right or is there a more conservative way to test?

Answer
Its actually the wire connectors that need to be waterproof.  If you remove one from the valve wires, it should have either a silicon or grease substance in it if it is waterproof.  As far as locating a leak, you just have to turn it on and follow the line until you see something.
