Orbit Underground Irrigation Control Valves

Question
The box cover in the ground says Orbit Underground Irrigation Control Valves...it is full of water.  I don't think it is supposed to be filled with water, however, when we moved into our home, we received no information on the irrigation system from the previous owners.  Please advise.  Thanks!

Answer
Hey Diane, I hope this helps. Inside the valve box will be your automatic valves that run the different zones in your yard. Even though it says "Orbit" on the valve box, it doesn't always mean that the valves are the "Orbit" brand, just the valve box. The valves could be "Orbit" or any brand, you would have to look at the valves themselves. Anyway, the box shouldn't be full of water. If it is, then you probably have a leak. The best thing to do, is to bail out the water, so you can determine where the leak(s) is. Usually water in the box will not have an effect on how the valves work, the only thing it could effect is if the wire connections are not waterproof, it could short out the controller. Again, bail out the box, determine where the leak is at, and fix the leak. Good luck and let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks and have a great day.
